I was widowed at age 51 when my husband Jim died of pancreatic cancer in 2010. We had a life plan, and suddenly I was alone. It has taken me awhile, but I am learning to make my way in this world as a widow. I work full-time as a career journalist, and live in Hermon with my four Brittany dogs: Sassy, Bullet, Thistle and Quincy, who keep me busy in various dog sports. I started writing about my journey for Bangor Daily News in a blog named “When Life Gives You Curves” in October 2015 nearly five years into my widowhood. You can find my earlier blogs at curves.bangordailynews.com .
